RE: #12 resolution settings in PSP

The setting for pixels per (cm/inch) has absolutely no effect on how the image will be viewed on screen, as ChasUGC indicated. This setting will only matter for images you intend to print. If you create any images you intend to print, this setting will determine the physical size of the printed image, assuming that your printer can support it. Generally, the smaller the pixels/cm (or inch) the larger the individual pixels will be on the printed page, hence controlling the overall size of the image.

You don't have vector or Raster backgrounds. You have vector or raster layers. A raster layer allows you to have transparent pixels. A vector layer allows you to make vector drawings. A background is neither raster or vector. The color is based on your background color and it is not transparent. You can convert background layers to raster layers, and vector layers to Raster layers. You will learn the advantages as you become more familar with making drawings.

Either you don't use PSP 8, or you don't pay attention. When starting a new image, you choose either a Raster or Vector Background, and either can be Tranaparent

csurfside... I suggest you look through the help files in PSP 8. There's a lot of info in there.

"drop shadow" or "cast shadow" though cast is most times behind as if on a wall.

Please answer my question above and also I have another. I made a button circular in PSP and then I think I made two new layers just for the x Design that would be the "close button" Well I tried to then resize it, But all I can resize is the x not the whole button. ***Thinks to himself this sounds confusing*

Is this a choice in PSP if so please write the path.

I would assume that if you look in the PSP Help, it will not only tell you where it is but how to use it?

In PSP8, you will find the drop shadow under the Effects menu. A couple of points, first. You will not be able to apply a shadow on a vector layer. You eill first have to convert the layer to raster. Make sure you have the vector layer Selected. Then under the Layer Menu, Select Convert to Raster...

Once you have a raster layer, for which you want to apply a drop shadow. Then click on the Effects Menu and click on 3D Effects>Drop Shadow. Make any adjustments you wish to make to the shadow and see the effect in the preview pane. then click OK. If you want, there is a small check box in the lower right to create the shadow on a new layer. This is often a good idea, in case you decide to modify the original object later. It will then be easier to modify the shadow as well.

As for your question about resizing, how are you resizing? If you are using the deformation tool, you will only be able to modify one object/Selection at a time, unless you Group the elements first. If you want to resize the whole thing, use the Resize command from the Image menu. On the dialogue near the bottom, you will find a checkbox to resize all layers. Make sure that box is checked if you wish to resize everything to the same scale.

No, I don't use PSP8, I like PSP7. And, I never said that a Raster or Vector Background couldn't be transparent. I guess that PSP8 is using the terms interchangably now. I always thought of Raster and Vector as layers, and backgrounds as opaque. If you open a bmp or jpg file, the image is a background and opaque. You can then convert it to a Raster Layer. It just sounds more correct to me to say that my image has 3 layers, than to say that my image has 3 backgrounds.
