Your pc may be the top of the line, it's how you handle it that matters

Anyway, the last update is beta, I hope you know what that means but I'll explain.
It means that there still may be bugs in it.

If you updated with the last 1.0x update then the problem is sadly enough your pc.
I don't have those problems you metioned and my pc isn't even top of the line.

What do you mean with that Human default flag ship?!

the background music and the game skips and and glitches

Sounds like driver problems to me, but without a debug file, hard to help out.

Someone Stardock employee should put on the Homepage in big bold letters "POST YOUR DEBUG.ERR WHEN YOU HAVE A BUG REPORT!" it would make things oh so much eascier.

I think the beta patch installer should require you to type in a sentence along the lines of "I understand that this is a beta patch and that it may be full of bugs and errors that I would not otherwise encounter. I promise not to complain and whine since I am installing this patch of my own free will and have been warned of potential errors."

It should be required to type in every single letter, not just press "Yes" after ignoring the text.

I had initial problems validating updates but once I got past that the game has performed fine. Describe your system.

The simple fact is you get these same people on every game that comes out. While this person may not be quite this bad, I find the words "top of the line" to be telling. Often people have a sort of "The oil comes with the car" mentality to computer software maintenance, and there is the problem. They think that you just install windows, and then take whatever drivers come off the CD, and your set. They also think that every little widget they find online should be allowed to start during bootup. And they think Spybot Search and Destroy is an action packed Sci-Fi movie.

Still, it is better to help than ridicule. I would recommend posting a debug log or something that might allow others to help.

The human flag ship doesnt look exactly like the star wars ship! OMG THIS IS HUGE!
Wait a second, I can't find star wars in the title! OMG AGAIN!
Bloody hell, do you even realise what you are saying? It's a homage, not a ripoff. Christ.
And post a debug.err file, the amount of people either trolling or whingeing in the forum ABOUT A BETA (which will obviously be bugged, hence "beta") WITHOUT AN .ERR FILE is whats making me seem so p***ed off, post the file so we can see what your problem is! (other than the obvious)

AAAAAARGH!
You just made me kill BILLIONS of Torians for no good reason other than anger management, and caused an EXCESSIVE amount of capitals.

Without sounding rude, if 'trying to fix' means uninstall and reinstall the game, you may consider some friend that has more knowledge about PC's than you. 80% of the time, I would say, crashes and similiar problems are poping up because the person simply can't handle a PC correctly so it works just fine.

I can't believe what Csurfside just said!!! Topline!!!!!!Topline!!!!!!You could have just said please help me???My PC is a advanced version{like mine}.Instead of being a jerk. And being all selfish.Stardock works harder than we imagin to make us happy and to fix problems. They gave up time on this game and they still are!!!!!!!!!!

Call me crazy, but I am beginning to suspect that these kinds of posts are being made by people who work for a company(ies) that is not at all happy with the amazing success a small dev has had selling a game with ZERO copy protection.

Can there really be that many PC users out there who have no idea what BETA means? Maybe, but I am still suspicious.

on Apr 02, 2006
Oh please, people who troll in forums and are hired by companies don't exist. You're all paranoid.
On an unrelated note, DOONT BUY GALCIV2 TIZ TEH SUXX0RS! LOL! CRASHES! BUY CIV4!!!!ZZOMG!11!one!!!

I must go and... not buy a house...

[sarcasm]

No, no, the game is obviously worthless.
I mean, if a top of the line computer cant even run the beta, after being fixed repeatedly by a top of the line pc owner, then the game is obviously crap.
Which mean of course, that a very large portion of gamers enjoy playing crap games that dont play at all on thier less than top of the line systems, because this is, after all, a top ten selling game.

[/sarcasm]

Seriously, take these posts at thier face value. Anyone who can pick out what the top of the line equipment even IS, has done thier homework and knows PC's well. This guy is just a kid who thinks, like most kids, that there is nothing outside his world that he cant see, and that if it doesnt work for him, it works for no one else either.

My recomendation is that he have his father take away his PC priviledges until he learns how to spell "driver".

Quit biting the guy. It's not everyone that knows that to get help with a given problem you need to supply as much information as possible.

Csurfside, try posting the debug.err file, it will show your PC's stats, and if you are lucky also the cause of the problem you have with the music. Personally I never play games with background music turned on. I'd much rather use that computer power for making the graphics run smother.

As to the bugs in the hull design, try posting a detailed description of the misaligned hardpoints in one of the bugs threads.
on Apr 02, 2006
I have to say, most of the fans of this game are really jerks. This guy is just expressing some frustration 'cause he is missing out on what is a good game. He even said that he acknowledges that Stardock has put a lot of effort into it and he respects that, but what kind of people are you that you have to just lambast him for not knowing everything about computers.

Everyone complains about "these kinds of posts" but seriously, I'm more annoyed with the surplus of replies flamming someone just for not being up to some standard of knowledge you seem to think exists to be allowed to play. Come off it!

On the contrary, AEG is one company that does use guerilla marketing on online boards to affect people's perceptions of products.  They talk about the positive influence they promote...but you can bet your bottom dollar that there are others out there that work to bring negativity too...this is a multi million dollar industry...and all is fair in business and war...
